Trees for Survival Planting Day – you’re invited!
Grab your gumboots and a spade and come join in to help plant the wonderful native trees that the students have grown this year. It’s an inter-generational fun day and you will be helping in a small way, to restore Aotearoa-New Zealand’s native environment.

Parking
- Signs will be placed at the planting site by the roadside to direct arriving cars
- Park with a mind to safety, and so other vehicles can still get out easily and watch out for students and school buses!
Format for the day
- Meet and greet. Approximately 9.45
- Safety briefing for ALL adults and student
- Walk together to tree planting site
- Review of planting area and demonstration of the planting technique
- Lunch provided around 12.30 – 1:00pm. Then, wash the muddy spades and finish for the day. Students return to school
What to bring
- Practical comfortable clothing – showerproof jacket / hat / garden gloves / boots/footwear that have a good grip and are okay to get quite muddy
- BYO favourite spade if you have one
- Change of dry clothes / bag for muddy gear
- Bottle of water and a snack to keep your energy up!

Weather
- If the weather forecast is not favourable for the proposed planting day, a decision to go ahead or revert to the ‘Rain Day’ date will be made the night before. It is ultimately the school's call. If it is just showery, we press on with planting.
Toilet facilities
- If no toilet is nearby, a camping toilet with tent will be set up at the planting site.
Please advise your TFS Facilitator numbers attending a week prior to Planting day with a mobile phone number in case of cancellation.
