New Members - Sarah Willerton and Henry Thomas-Kircher
At our meeting on Wednesday we welcomed two new members to our club.
Below are brief bio's to enable you to get to know them.
Sarah Willerton:
Grew up in the UK, still considers Oxford as her original home.
At 18 after finishing A levels took a gap year to travel to India. While there she became involved with Rotary youth programs assisting children with learning difficulties,
Returned to the UK where she met her partner, Dan, and then embarked on further overseas travel through Southeast Asia.
Ended up in New Zealand planning to visit for a year – nine years later she is still here and they have become proud citizens.
Has taken on various engineering roles here in New Zealand and currently works with Z Energy responsible for maintaining fuel systems at service stations.
Attended RYLA 2021, RYLA Elevate 2024 and has returned to RYLA each year since to “give back” as part of the Engineering Team.
She is currently part of a very enthusiastic team in the Youth Committee under the leadership of Peter Ross.
In her spare time she is an active runner recently completing the Auckland half marathon.
Henry Thomas-Kircher:
Originally from the mainland, Christchurch, but moved to Auckland after graduating from University of Canterbury in 2012 with a BE (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering.
Lydia is his partner of 8+ years. Works at Fisher and Paykel Healthcare leading a team to implement manufacturing solutions making the medical devices they sell.
Motorsport provided the motivation to become an engineer has been driving since 2 years old! Has raced Karts and actively races in Formula Ford to this day. Has driven on circuits throughout Australia including Bathurst, Sandown and Phillip Island.
Attended RYLA 2019, RYLA Oceania (Now Elevate) 2020 and RYLA Forum 2023. Like Sarah has returned to RYLA each year since 2020 to “give back” and was in charge of the outdoor phase of the most recent edition.
He is currently part of the very enthusiastic team in the Youth Committee.
