We were treated to a very interesting address on Tuesday by Dr Peter Wills Titled “A life in science” that challenged our understanding of physics and microbiology. More about his discussion later in Rapport.

At the board meeting on Tuesday evening the various awards the club makes and the funding for them were discussed as well as the final accounts for YE June 2026, the accounts for the current year to date and the budgets for the current year.

In summary, our Club’s Charitable Foundation and related trusts are funding generous donations and activities. All committees are very active, particularly Youth and REP/RAP and it is very pleasing to note that the REP programme is likely to extend to 20 schools – what a great success.

As the election cycle is really heating up Candice Kinser (National candidate for Auckland Central) will be a speaker not to be missed at Tuesday’s lunch meeting.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Peter Wills - A Life in Science

A Journey Through Science, Faith, and Philosophy Dr. Peter Wills, theoretical biologist in the Department of Physics at the University of Auckland, delivered a wide-ranging, reflective address entitled "A Life in Science."

Introduced by Warwick Layland, Dr. Wills looked back on a 50-year career spanning international research, controversial political activism, and fundamental questions about the origin of life.
