At our evening meeting on 2 July we will be welcoming Anthony Grant, a well known Auckland Barrister, who will be talking to us about the Sculptureum, a project he has established in Matakana. A number of you have already booked so if you have ignore this email but presently we are short on numbers and so more attendees are needed. It would be good to see you. The evening promises to be very interesting so please book now to ensure that there is a good turn out of members, partners and guests. |

Rotary Newmarket sponsored 23 young adults to attend this year's Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) & this evening is all about meeting them, networking with them & hearing about their experiences. It is always an enjoyable evening. We also have a special surprise guest so do not miss this meeting. |

Many of you heard Professor Steven Dakin speak at a recent meeting & were impressed by his work & clarity of presentation. Following on from his talk we have arranged a visit to the University of Auckland's School of Optometry & Vision Science. Numbers are limited to 30 so as this will be a popular visit you will need to be quick off the mark registering. Cost $20 per head will go to the clinic for funding children with lazy eye issues. |

Dear All, At our meeting on 3 September we will be welcoming our exchange student Eva Schnittger. Eva will be telling us about herself and what she has done and will be doing while she is in New Zealand. We will also be welcoming Duncan Watson from MOEC who will give us an update on what is happening at MOEC. As members will know we put in quite a bit of effort inot Motutapu and MOEC so it will be good to hear what is happening going forward. For those of you who have not registered for this event our guest at our evening meeting on 5 November 2019 at Remuera Golf Club will be Dr Siouxie Wiles MNZM. Dr Siouzsie Wills is a well known microbiologist and science commentator (with pink hair) in the media, who has a keen interest in taking away the mysteries of science. In her day job she is an Associate Profesor in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences where she is responsible for the Bioluminescent Superbugs Lab. In that space she seeks to gain an understanding of infectious diseases and tries to fin new antibiotics. In 2019 Dr Wiles was appointed a memember of the NZ Order of Merit for servies to microbiology and science communication. The topic of her address will be Superbugs and Anti-biotics. This address promises to be entertaining and informative so do register so we can advise Remuera of the numbers attending.
